Stone and Goligoski represent both sides of the AHL / NHL spectrum. Stone has taken the regular route by playing in the AHL and gradually learning and growing into NHL-calibur player while Goligoski took a fast-track establishing himself as a offensive defenseman and playing 30-minute games for Wilkes-Barre / Scranton last season; it also doesn't hurt that the Penguins have a spot to fill that was left by Ryan Whitney after undergoing foot surgery back in August.
