What is with lists? They're quite popular among sports writers these days (I guess the off-season is typically slow and it's easy to make a list for anything).
And as if we didn't already know, NHL.com compiled a list of the top 5 passers in the Eastern conference which includes 2 of our very own: Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The list wasn't merely based on number of assists, it also considered the players ability to find a teammate on the ice and see plays / passes that may not be apparent to the average NHL player (is there such a thing?) -- those players that make you say, "man, that was a nice play" or just simply, "AMAZING!" There's a certain sense of style to it - poetry in motion, if you will. These types of players elevate the game play of the other guy to his left / right such as Malkin did with Jordan Staal.
Which is one of the reasons why Malkin is listed as #3
And at #1 -- he never disappoints -
Who else? Sidney Crosby!! We all know Sidney he is one of the most unselfish players on the ice these days, so it comes as no surprise that he's the top guy on this list. I often find myself wondering why he doesn't shoot more, especially in certain circumstances -- he does have some prime opportunities, but he is more likely to pass then shoot which enables him to fine-tune these passing skills! You know how they say, "he / she has eyes in the back of his / her head," well I swear he has eyes that gives him a 360-view of the ice!
I'm certain you're all aware how extremely lucky we are, as fans, to have not ONE, but these TWO talented players on our team to watch them give it all during each game they play; especially since passing is not the only talent they have!!
