- Stan Savran started out by telling Shero that he never remembers free agency being so crazy and creating as much interest as it did this year. I would agree!
- Shero told Stan that a "replacement list" was created knowing who their UFA were, so they were fully prepared for July 1st.
- When Stan asked Shero if he was surprised about the deal Hossa agreed to with Detroit, he told Stan that he was surprised but the most surprising to him was that if was for 1 year. Then Stan asked if Hossa or his agent ever asked for a 1-year deal and Shero told him that it never got to negotiations -- offers were given to the players [Hossa] and that was it. And Hossa actually called Shero directly when he decided to go to Detroit; Shero still feels that it was a good deal (when he traded for Hossa) and he would do it again.
- when they knew Hossa was gone, Shero knew that they needed to replace his skill in that position which is why they went after Satan who Shero believes has "good hands" and is a good finisher on the net. As far as Fedetenko, Shero pointed out that he has won a Stanley Cup and was an important part of the SC team and feels that he and Satan will fit in the top 9 group of Pens players
- As far as an getting Therrien signed to an extension, Shero said that after things with the players fell into place his attention turned to Therrien and that he [Therrien] is leaving for vacation on Sunday so Shero expects to have a resolution by the end of this week.
- When asked if he likes the team as it's assembled, Shero answered that his main goal was to keep the "core" together and feels that he accomplished that since Crosby is signed for 5 years and that they were able to sign Malkin and Fleury to long-term deals this year as well as having Whitney for 5 more years, so he is happy with the team.

SHERO on SportsBeat
As much as I was looking forward to seeing Ray Shero on SportsBeat tonight, it didn't provide anymore information than what is already known -- well, maybe a little bit more, but it just seemed to go over things that have already been discussed. Here are some of what I thought were the "highlights" of the interview:
