A Little PISSING and MOANING [Never Hurt Anyone!]

It seems as though I'm not the only Pens fan that has acquired a strong dislike for Hossa. Pens fans aren't shallow enough to turn on him just for the sole reason of his decision to go to Detroit. No - give us more credit than that!! It may be, perhaps, because of statements from Hossa like this one (which he told a Pittsburgh reporter knowing that it was going to be aired on Pittsburgh TV):
“I wanted the best chance to win the Stanley Cup and I feel like Detroit is the team,” Hossa said during a teleconference Wednesday afternoon. “I know I could get more money somewhere else, but the thing that I was looking for for myself was to win the Stanley Cup."
The Pensblog made reference to this newfound hatred in a recent post:
--8:00pm--

Even though some of you may find it hard to believe, Red Wings fans are actually celebrating their newfound lust for him (but I would like to remind them that it's only a 1-year deal; if they don't come through to win the Stanley Cup in 2009, he'll be moving on to the next "best" Cup-contender -- peddling himself like a "hockey whore" -- my husband, however, chooses to use the term "mercenary" - WHATEVER, same thing!). Here are parts of a few posts / articles from Red Wing bloggers & writers today:
  • FROM Behind the Jersey, "WINGS STUN FANS WITH HOSSA SIGNING" - "If you haven’t realized it by now, GM Ken Holland is a pretty smart guy. But Wings fans really need to thank Marian Hossa himself for this crazy exciting signing."
  • FROM ABEL TO YZERMAN, "GUARANTEED DOZEN: HOSSA A WING" - "Reliable. Confirmed. Ok. This is insane. I mean it’s absolutely frigging out of control insane. ... Consider them all answered because Ken Holland is a mastermind. He’s an artist. There is no question and zero doubt. Goddamn, it’s great to be a Wing fan. ... My god, think of the line combinations, the power play, the firepower. ... Hossa? The guy wants a Cup and he wants it badly. Undoubtedly he could have signed a 4, 5, 8 year deal with any number of teams. ... Some guys value winning above all else. Stuart got a taste and he wants more. Hossa came close and he’s starving for it. Well, he gets his best chance ever because he took less money and a big risk. A one year deal, despite what must be huge amounts of insurance money, is a chance few stars like to take. Especially at age 28."
  • FROM RED WINGS CORNER, "GOOD REVIEWS" - "Small point with all the Hossa-mania going on in Hockeytown right now, but I think the Red Wings have added another good person to their roster. In addition to Hossa being a star player, I've heard all sorts of good things about him off the ice."
Some of you may also wonder where my "Arrogance on Ice" reference came from in my previous Hossa post. Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about right from the mouth of Chris Osgood, the best starting goalie on the entire Red Wings team (and I really mean that - sincerely!):

I don't know, I don't like bragging about myself very much,” Osgood said. “I played some good games in my career. But I feel pretty good about myself right now.

OK - who says shit like that? If you don't like bragging about yourself, you don't say things like that!! Come ON! That's where my feeling of Detroit's arrogance all stems from -- blame Chris Osgood, people!!

Osgood doing what he does best [diving]!!
