Lightning Closer to Becoming THE PENGUINS!

Yet again, the TB Lightning made an addition to their team with a connection to the Pittsburgh Penguins by signing free agent Mark Recchi (as reported by TSN.com) to a 1 year / $1.25 million; with incentives, it's worth $1.50 million. With all of their Pittsburgh ties, several bloggers and message boards enthusiasts have coined the name "Pittsburgh Penguins South" for the Lightning's brand new, ready-made team.

According to my husband, TB is trying to create a veteran presence in the locker room similar to what the Penguins had during this past season. I just think that TB's new owners are young, dumb, and full of -- BULLSHIT!! You just don't create a team / team chemistry just like you don't create talent! I assume the new management for TB is thinking that they're "building" from a tried & true formula already made successful by the Pens, but what they're forgetting is that it took Pittsburgh years to CREATE (not just in one fail swoop)!! As much as everyone is looking for the Lightning to run away with the Cup this upcoming season, I'm looking for them to flop - they won't even make the Playoffs - THAT'S MY PREDICTION!

If we have any luck, their arthritis should be setting in sometime around the start of the NHL's 2008-2009 season (along with the players from the Detroit Red Wings)!!
