DAY 1 OVER (CHECKING IN on DAY 2): Still Nothing Definite on Hossa, Orpik, Ruutu, Jagr

It appears that alot of posting has gone on since I decided to call it "a night", but nothing definite and no announcements made since then.

Here's a brief rundown of postings from TIOPS:
  • Supposedly Shero has been taking calls and getting offers for Ryan Whitney but has not acted on them because of ownership's desire to keep him.
  • Talks continue with Brooks Orpik, but Pittsburgh has yet to meet his demands for 6 years / $22 million.
  • There has been talk all over the internet about Hossa's agent, Rich Winter, pushing him against signing with Pittsburgh. TIOPS has been told that "Hossa wants to sign with Pittsburgh, but Winter is urging" him toward signing with Edmonton. Pittsburgh is confident that playing for a Cup-contender is more appealing to Hossa and they will win the battle to sign him in the end, but if he decides to go with the Oilers, the Penguins will decline to match the offer. [GROW A PAIR, HOSSA; SIGN WHERE YOU WANT TO and get a new agent while you're at it!!]
  • A decision from Ruutu is still forthcoming sometime on Wednesday since the previous speculation of it being before the end of the evening has come and gone.
  • Montreal will apparently "make room" for Hossa under the salary cap by trading Alexei Kovalev if Hossa signs with them.
  • TIOPS is telling us to "expect alot of movement today."
