Tyler Kennedy is keeping the news media in Sault Ste. Marie busy these days! I found another article on him; this time in The Sault Star.
Kennedy was among the many instructors taking part in the Ted Nolan Foundation First Nation Hockey School held this past weekend (Friday - Sunday). As you may or may not know, Ted Nolan is currently the head coach of the New York Islanders. (AH - scratch that - YAHOO!Sports is reporting that he is no longer the Isles coach as of TODAY!!)
Although this was the second year the foundation hosted this hockey school, it was Kennedy's first time taking part as an instructor.
"It was great," said Kennedy, a Sault native who won a regular spot this past season with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. "Ted has a lot of respect here and in Garden River. He's a great role model for the kids."
"Coming back, a lot of people know me now," Kennedy said. "I have to work hard to stay where I am in the NHL. I want these kids to know they have to earn this stuff, to stay focused."
Funds from the school go toward Nolan's foudnation, set up to benefit Aboriginal youth.
