One-on-One with Michel Therrien

Broadcast of the interview began around 5:30 PM (lasted about 5 minutes). KDKA has it posted on their webpage.

Below, I posted some of the highlights:

  • Head coach Michel Therrien is not superstitious, but he does have a routine when he's behind the bench: he likes to "talk" to his dad who passed away 1-1/2 ago (as well as Ray Shero's dad who has also passed away). [I think this is quite interesting about him; shows such a sweet side of him that we're not used to seeing during the games!]
  • The one athlete Therrien most admires (aside from any hockey players) is Tiger Woods. He feels that he is a true model for alot of younger (and older) men.
  • He does own an ipod and listens to Celine Dion; saw a couple of her shows in Las Vegas. [Pompeani and the other news casters were joking about how Therrien just made it cool for men to listen to Celine Dion!]
  • Therrien is amazed how much fans appreciate the team and the way they play; when he goes out and stops at the grocery store, people want to stop you, but are polite; they like to say "hi" and "thanks."
