Savran Stays While "Sportsbeat" Goes

Stan Savran and FSN agreed to the terms of a new contract on Friday, so while Savran stays with FSN, his infamous show "Savran on Sportsbeat" will come to an end this coming Monday. He will, however, remain the host of "The Mike Tomlin Show" along with the Tomlin's weekly press conferences and the pre-game shows for both the Pirates and Penguins.
"While SportsBeat has come to an end, I'm not going anywhere," Savran said. "I've spent nearly half of my professional life at this regional sports network, and I'd like to end my career -- whenever that may be -- right here."

This is absolutly outrageous. I live in New Jersey and am the biggest Steelers fan I know. Stan meant alot to me, my family, and friends. From the press conferences and locker room interviews, to Sportsbeat and Monday nights with Tunch. This will forever be a show that has left a mark in my heart for the last 18 years. Love the show Stan...you were the best!

I think this is the sentiment felt by all Pittsburgh sports fans and I couldn't have said it better myself.

THANKS for the comment -- it's much appreciated; I'm glad you shared your thoughts!!

I am angered to my core. Stan and sportsbeat was a staple of this country. We'll probably replace him and his show with cheap programming. Great. Now after a hard days work I can turn on Sportsbeat only to find a paid commercial for orange glo. Well I'm sure that is what Steelers nation was really looking for all along. I will not be watching another thing on FSN until Stan and Sportsbeat are back.

This is outrageous! Just got back from vacation and found the final show on my DVR. As a member of Steeler Nation (florida) how will I ever know what's going on. I will miss Stan..but wish him the best.

What in the world are you guys thinking there? Stan is the face of your channel. He is the reason i watch your network. Everynight during the steeler season my family and I turn on FSN to watch sportsbeat. I bought satellite just so i could get that show on your station. What ever reason you are thinking to let sportbeat go is going to backfire on you. You have a signature show that gets good ratings and has a nation wide fan base, and you let it go? sounds like to me whoever is making this decision should run for goverment office because its sounds like the stupid ideas they come up with. Please reconsider this decision. You have a good show, look for cutbacks and savings elsewhere. Because once stan savrans sportbeat and audience is gone, you will not get them back. I for one will not watch FSN without it. I will call dish network and cancel my sports package that gets FSN .
