Pesonen Gets Called Up (Is this the Beginning of the Pesonen Era?)!!

OK - so some of the blog world is buzzing from a small little announcement that was made among an entire post of paragraphs that you'd only notice if you knew where to look (and at the time of this post, no official announcement was posted on the Penguins webpage or any trusted Pittsburgh newspapers).

Yesterday, [WB] Penguins Insider announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins called up Janne Pesonen with this one simple sentence (and nothing following):

Two-thirds of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's top line is now in Pittsburgh. A day after Chris Minard was called up, Janne Pesonen was likewise promoted this afternoon.

That's it; nothing more or less. This statement seemed out of place in the blog among the rest of the information about the WB/S Baby Pens since it was the only thing Bomboulie said about the transaction and no further elaboration was given.

This comes just a day after the announcement of Chris Minard's callback and Jonathan Bomboulie's explanation as to why it was him and not Pesonen (which made alot of good sense).

So this would leave us to seriously ponder the following --

• is Crosby not playing in tonight's game against the St. Louis Blues?
• does this mean Pesonen will get a crack at the top line (under circumstances we hadn't previously considered, i.e., he'll be playing without Crosby)?

These are interesting developments but ones which probably won't be answered until gametime tonight. I'm rooting for Pesonen now more than ever and hoping that he puts on a good show for the Penguins organization to make it harder for them to re-assign him back down to WB/S than it was the first time around.
