So ... We Lost, But Pechursk[i]y Kicked Ass!!

FIRST PERIOD
SWEET steal by Malkin that led to the first goal of the game ... ending an 11-game wait for his 14th goal of the season (1-0, Pens).

Luongo stopped the rest of the Penguins shots after that goal, Dupuis gave up the puck right in front of Curry allowing Henrik Sedin to score the tying goal for the Canucks (1-1).

Canucks have a powerplay towards the end of the first which looked a little weak, so they weren't able to capitalize (that would be the ONLY time in the rest of the game that any part of that team looked weak).

The Penguins finished the period with a power play on which the Canucks' Alex Burrows had a breakaway, shortie and scored on Curry to take the lead then killed the rest of the powerplay to end it (2-1, Canucks).

My 'end of period' thoughts: WHY ALL THE HATE FOR CURRY??? There's only one way to get good and that's by playing!!! [hand / finger] to the haters!!!

SECOND PERIOD
Canucks start off the period with a goal - it was a flukey goal ... deflected after it took a few odd bounces (3-1, Canucks).

[Bob Errey mentioned that there's something wrong with the pucks because he's never seen so many bouncing pucks ... said it has to do with them being frozen ... says '15 minutes' isn't enough time in the freezer for them to be frozen]. IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!

About a minute later, Canucks find another "bouncing puck" in front of Curry and hit it home to make the score 4-1 (Errey commented that Curry wouldn't have been able get that puck anyway). Then less than a minute after that, the Canucks make it 5-1.

Pechursk[i]y gets the nod at this point in the game (15:22 of the 2nd) EVEN AFTER CURRY MADE A REALLY GOOD SAVE (the kid [Pechursk[i]y]doesn't speak a lick of English according to Steigy and looks really nervous on the bench from what I can see)!! To be fair, the Pens weren't helping Curry and it wasn't doing much for his confidence at all!

Canucks draw another penalty that the Penguins kill and the majority of the period was spent in the Penguins end which is usually a recipe for disaster (and was).

Luongo had a conniption as Cooke scored the Pens 2nd (and final) goal from a rebound on TK's shot (THIRD LINE comes through once again!) ... eventually Luongo got his hands on a pacifier and calmed himself down enough to play the rest of the game (5-2, Canucks).

Canucks revenge Cooke's "questionable" goal with a goal of their own - their first and only on Pechursk[i]y (6-2, Canucks).

TK got a penalty in the final seconds of the period to give the Canucks a power play opportunity to start the third period.

my 'end of the period' thoughts: Pechursk[i] thoughts right before they actually put him in, "OH SHIT ... don't look at the coach, don't look at the coach!" AND WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT THAT WE'D BE PLAYING THE BACK-UP OF A BACK-UP GOALIE??!!!!!!
FUN FACT for this period: Pechursk[i]y wears #20, but the jerseys were held up in Customs and his name is actually spelled with a "y" and not an "i" (Pechursky).
Steigy's "COOL MAN" move: mentioning Frank Pieterangelo every five minutes.

THIRD PERIOD
Pens kill the penalty and then draw one for another chance with a one-man advantage, but nothing came out of that.

Hordichuk falls on top of Pechersk[i]y and Godard starts pounding him in the head while he's on the ice - good stuff, but a little too late (and not a good result for the Pens) because it gave the Canucks even more of a chance to pull further ahead.

The game ended with a Canucks power play and the final score 6-2.

My overall thoughts of the game: Curry didn't eat his Wheaties, but Pechursk[i]y ate Malkin's borscht and Steigy is still too full of himself.

LET'S GO PENS (we'll get the next one ... keep your chin up, Curry!)!!!!!!

I've seen Fleury freak out and shrink in the net, too. More than once. I think Curry will be okay. I'm not going to pass judgement on him for last night alone.

I am still so amazed at how Pechursky stepped up! It'll probably be a while, and I'm not sure if it will be as a Penguin, but I think we just might see him again.

Loved seeing Malkin snap that streak, too, even if it was weird and fluky. Russian boys represented!
