Here's what HC Bylsma had to say regarding Gonchar:
"He was better today in terms of dealing with his injury. It wasn’t great on the ice. Without a morning skate tomorrow it’s tough to think we are going to have him. We are hopping he continues to progress like he did coming into today. If that is the case it could be a warm-up decision."Nothing much has been reported about Sergei Gonchar since he blocked a shot that hit his foot and appeared to be in pain for the remaining time on the ice until today.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Gonchar skated onto the ice to participate in practice today at Southpointe, but it wasn't long after that (about 15 minutes) when he skated off and didn't return to take part in the rest of the practice.
He looked uncomfortable while skating and did not participate in any drills.
Gonchar's availability for games Saturday in Tampa and Sunday in Miami is unknown.
