So last night was pretty exciting -- any true hockey fan does genuinely feel like it's Christmas eve the night before the SC playoffs (and that would make today like Christmas!)! It was also the day the 2009 NHL Draft lottery was held and the order of the 14 teams that did not make the playoffs were determined.
The order of selection for the first 14 drafting positions in the first round, only, of the 2009 Entry Draft is as follows:
- NY Islanders
- TB Lightning
- Colorado Avalanche
- Atlanta Thrashers
- LA Kings
- Phoenix Coyotes
- Toronto Maple Leafs
- Dallas Stars
- Ottawa Senators
- Edmonton Oilers
- Nashville Predators
- Minnesota Wild
- Buffalo Sabres
- Florida Panthers
The remaining drafting positions will be determined at the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Now the only thing left to be decided is who will be going #1 in the first round - John Tavares or Victor Hedman (we'll see come June)!
