On this Date in Pittsburgh Penguins History

2008
The Penguins were eliminated from the Stanley Cup final by the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2 (John and I were there!)

1988
Pierre Creamer is named the Penguins head coach.

1984
Penguins replaced head coach Lou Angotti with Bob Berry. Angotti won only 16 games in his only season behind the bench and his .238 winning percentage is the lowest by any Penguins coach in history.

1981
Randy Carlyle won the Norris Trophy and Rick Kehoe won the Lady Byng Trophy.
