The street address for what is now known as the Mellon Arena (but at the time was the Civic Arena) is renamed 66 Mario Lemieux Place (originally 300 Auditorium Place).

Shawn McEchern's penalty shot was stopped by NY Ranger's John Vanbiesbrouck in the Patrick Division Playoffs (Pens ended up taking the series over the Rangers in six games to win the playoff title).
