And So the Crap Begins!

We all know this is going to be a great series between the Penguins and Capitals (and that supposedly this matchup is Bettman's wet dream - it couldn't play out any better); you can be pretty certain that the Craps fans are going to be on Crosby full-force, but did you ever consider that the Capitals organization has been working hard to make sure that tickets to the two home games in Washington stay out of the hands of Penguins fans?!

There have been interesting developments according to the Pensblog who received the following email from "an anonymous source inside the Capitals organization:"

"High ups" in the Caps office are actually snagging up tix on Craig's List / Stub Hub so that fans from Pittsburgh can't get them. You can't make this up. Apparently, they also read different blogs (including this one) to learn just how many rival fans are coming and figure out how they can prevent it from happening. Also, one thing to look out for: A LOT of the tix on Craig's List are actually fake (according to Caps front office).

And the Pensblog makes this valid point:

You'd have to think there is no way the Caps front office is buying tickets off of Craigslist and/or putting up fake ads. But when it comes to Penguins/Capitals, it is no secret the Capitals will go to great lengths to job. This is the same team that blocks the "412" Pittsburgh area code in an attempt to turn Pens fans away.

We've heard something similar at the beginning of the regular season when fans were reporting that you couldn't purchase tickets to various Capitals home games and those against the Pens were included (those could only be purchased with a pack / plan) and was speculated that it was the organizations way of stopping Pens fans from attending these games.

But really -- have they not learned anything from doing it this season? Did it really work for them? I suppose there's logic behind it, but there's no solid evidence that would lead me to believe that this works. In fact, to the contrary. The Penguins were better playing the Capitals at Washington then they were at home this season (the Penguins went 0-2 at home, but 1-2 at Washington)!!

So if any of you are planning to purchase tickets to attend any of the games in Washington, just keep all of this information in mind -- BE CAREFUL and do some research before you buy!!
