[UPDATE] Pre-Game Notes (Pittsburgh VS New Jersey)

[UPDATE] ORPIK'S STATUS
The Penguins just reported that Orpik will be out for two weeks with a lower body injury.
"He's got a two-week injury, lower body," head coach Dan Bylsma said. "We were excited that he was doing better than we feared. He's doing well. We got some good news and he'll hopefully be around 14 days."
CLEARED FOR CONTACT
Malkin and Talbot returned to practice this morning without their red "no contact" jerseys as they have been cleared for contact, so it shouldn't be long now - HOPEFULLY!!

"SCORE AGAINST HUNGER" FOOD DRIVE
if you're attending tonight's game, don't forget to bring non-perishable food items with you; any fan making a donation of food items or money will have a chance to win autographed Penguins memorabilia. Collections will be at Gates 1, 3, 10 and from 6:30 PM through the first 10 minutes of the first period.

New Jersey Injury Info
  • Patrik Elias, F (groin/hip surgery) and Brian Rolston, F (unknown injury) both travelled with the team to Pittsburgh; Rolston did not play last night against Anaheim, but Elias did (both are probable for tonight, but Elias will be a game-time decision - he was kept out of playing back-to-back games last week as a precaution)
  • Paul Martin, D (broken left forearm) is expected to miss at least two more weeks
  • Jay Pandolfo, F (shoulder)
  • Johnny Oduya, D (lower body) and Rob Niedermayer, F (upper body) are day-to-day; neither player was in the lineup yesterday against the Ducks
  • the Devils recalled Matt Corrente, D, from their AHL affiliate "just in case"
