Pittsburgh Loses Bid to Carolina for 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend

This past Thursday, the NHL along with the Carolina Hurricanes announced that Raleigh, NC will be the host city for next season's 58th NHL All-Star game and festivities (January 29 - 30).  The game is to be played on January 30th at the RBC Center.

Really?  Carolina?  Oh well, I guess the Pittsburgh market and new arena wasn't that impressive to Gary OR the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field is more likely for the city.  Who knows?  Who cares?!!  I think I would've rather had Pittsburgh host this event than the Winter Classic, but talk to me
January 2, 2011!!

READ MORE at the Carolina Hurricanes webpage (including ticket information which appear to already be "spoken for" by way of corporate sponsors, suite holders, and season ticket holders, so TOUGH LUCK if you're not from NC!!)

I think this whole thing just shows you how much Bettman keeps pushing Southern US teams over Northern (and particularly Canadian teams). I'm kind of getting sick of it.

Congrats to the Canes organization though.
