It was announced this morning that the Penguins recalled seven additional players from their AHL affiliate team:
Forwards Dustin Jeffrey, Nick Johnson, Mark Letestu, Eric Tangradi and Tim Wallace; defenseman Steve Wagner and goaltender John Curry
There are now a total of 11 AHL players that have been added to the Penguins roster since the beginning of the playoffs (including Chris Conner, Deryk Engelland, Ben Lovejoy and Brad Thiessen).
Why? Why not?! During the playoffs, these players do not count against the cap, so the team is able to have as many players on their roster as they see fit (and it makes perfectly good sense especially with the playoffs being so physical). And it's almost like a "reward" / added benefit for the players putting all the hard work into their season. If you remember from last year, Pittsburgh did the same thing during the playoffs (the guys even got to celebrate the Stanley Cup win as well as take part in the parade).
