It was just announced on the Pittsburgh Penguins webpage that Ruslan Fedotenko will be out of the lineup four to six weeks with a broken right hand. He has been placed on injured reserve (IR).
I was recently asked by Rick of the Penguins Experience blog to join a few other bloggers in writing up a Mid-Season Review for the Penguins."I can't score goals and I'm not going to go fight guys. We're a team. We're going to win as a team, and we're going to lose as a team."

FEDOTENKO AND DUPUIS will not be in tonight's lineup against the Predators; Rob Rossi confirms that Fedotenko has a broken right hand and Dupuis has an injury to his knee. Tenks will definitely not play on Saturday against the Avalanche and Dupuis is expected to practice on Friday and possibly play on Saturday.
JORDAN STAAL will get another shot at the top line with Sid along with Tyler Kennedy (I'm hoping for the best of this line, but we'll have to wait and see).
ALEX GOLIGOSKI will be playing as a forward during tonight's game; this will be his second time doing so.
HAL GILL will be a healthy scratch once again for tonight's game.

RUSLAN FEDOTENKO & PASCAL DUPUIS
Although there is no official word on the Penguins webpage about Fedotenko and Dupuis(other than the "projected lines" which aren't very official), TENNESSEAN.COM is reporting that Dupuis is questionable for tonight's game against the Predators due to a knee injury and Fedotenko is out due to his hand. I want to know where this writer gets his information -- that's more than we have ever found out about any injuries on this team and he's from Nashville. Until there is some word on the Penguins webpage, I would still treat this as speculation up to gametime.
NO PRACTICE
The Penguins left for Nashville yesterday afternoon (with their fathers) and there was no practice, so there's really not much news before gametime today (there may be more later; be sure to check back)!!
STARTING GOALTENDER
Fleury is expected to start in the net for the Penguins tonight against the Predators.
Yesterday afternoon, the Penguins left on their two-game road trip to head to Nashville where they will play against the Predators. With them were 27 extra passengers - fathers of the players, coaches, and staff members for their third annual “Dads’ Trip.” The fathers will accompany their sons on Thursday in Nashville and Saturday in Colorado.“It’s a unique opportunity for the players to say thanks to their fathers, who have meant so much to their lives and careers,” Shero said. “And it’s a great opportunity for the dads to experience an NHL road trip with their sons.”Penguins' fathers will be provided with special suites for both games, attend morning skates before getting a group picture to commemorate the trip. The trip will not only include seeing their sons play two hockey games, but various other activities and extra time to visit both cities.
Interesting, but still just speculation (thanks to LGP.com message board for the find)!!One can presume that hockey operations folks passed along to ownership the trade offers/possibilities they have on the table, not only to keep them apprised of the situation but to seek permission to expand the payroll during these tough economic times.
Pittsburgh: The Blue Jackets would love to get Jordan Staal from the Penguins. And Staal might like to get away from the Penguins, if only because of coach Michel Therien. The two do not get along. But the Pens won't part with Staal for a second-round draft pick. They want a scoring winger, which is something the Blue Jackets can't part with.
In fact, Shero recently said it himself (from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette): "I would not want to make a trade right now that I wouldn't have made the first 20 games. To do something because we're losing some games isn't what I'm looking at."
"There's not a lot of movement right now," Shero said, "so you stick with it a little bit and not do something you wouldn't do when things are going well."So let's just bide our time and be patient because I'm sure big changes are ahead - just not right now (unless you count Kemp to Montreal for a draft pick a big change).
It was announced yesterday that forward Chris Minard was voted as a starter for the 2009 AHL All-Star game.The 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2009 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 25 (4:00 p.m. ET), and the 2009 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 26 (7:00 p.m. ET). The event will be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.
